Watching the L Word. My favoritest show ever, I'm so terribly sad it's the last season. Hope the spin off is good too!!
The past few days have been a little rough. I think a combination of things I let slide caused a bit of an avalanche. To start, I've been alone for a little while. The un-grounded half of my brain gets going faster than the logical half, which makes me teeter totter. Then a friend came for a few days who tends to be a less than stellar influence. I love her to death, but I feel like being around her gives me a right to be self-abusive. That is a long explanation, and really has nothing to do with her. Maybe more on that another time. The third thing is somehow forgetting to take my meds a couple days in a row. Not sure how that happened. Oh, an the absurd amount of alcohol every night didn't help either.
Normally, after a stint like that, I feel incredibly guilty and even more self-loathing. When I woke up this morning, I made the decision to make today (my day off from work) a cleansing day. I don't need to feel guilty, I had a lapse and it's okay, and now I'm going to have a better day. If I make it through the day, I might decide to have a better week.
I took a bunch of pictures recently, they're on my facebook. I'm done with MySpace, it's too much work to keep up with both.

Snowbaby

It's snowing lightly and we just had our first foal of the year. Cute bay filly with a blaze. I'm so tired and unusually hungry - few more hours and then back at work. Washed my sheets and pulled them fresh out of the dryer so there would be something warm in my bed. No doggies - Guinness is too big and hogs the middle. Just Kitty Kat, who tried to attack my fart through the covers.
I feel like I need something, but I don't know what. I am restless right now. My New Years' Resolution is to simplify my life and I am craving it all at once. No patience. I want it now - but what else is new?

Shalladd
In the blender:
Tomato
Jalapeno Pepper
Few strawberries
(fresh cracker pepper and sea salt to taste if wanted)
Toss it with a shit ton of spinach.

My creativity did not fail this time (like it usually does)

Stumps N Stuff
Today was cool. A little background: my generous boss is allowing me to keep my horses in a back pasture. There is a bit of work to be done, but by the end of February no more Zebulon! It's bittersweet, I love that place, but it's so far away and expensive. I'm so relieved.
Back to today: the pasture is full of stumps and brush and the fences are rather pathetic. I got a bunch of quotes for the job and my best one came out and took care of it today. He did an excellent job and it was so cool! The machine was remote controlled and was a beast. So now the pasture is full of holes. At least this part is something I can do myself. Next will be taking down the overgrown stuff on/around the fence with the chainsaw, which is not my department.
I'll write more later. I have a lot to say, but a very short attention span at the moment.

New Book
It arrived yesterday. Now, I'm no reader. In fact, I despise reading. Somehow I made it through 40+ pages last night and actually retained the information. Excellent.
80/10/10 so far has been very informative. I have learned quiet a bit of information about the sugars in fruits - and how common it is to make the mistake of eating a high-fat raw diet thinking it is equally as healthy and nourishing. I do eat larger quantities of nuts, oils, fatty fruits than what is appropriate. I didn't realize a lot of foods in nature had such a high percentage of fat calories.
I'm not going to monitor or adjust my intake of foods (I refuse to call it a diet - might fuck up my head) until I finish reading the book. I will continue to eat raw, just to maintain the habit, apply things I learn along the way, but not do anything radical until I have the big picture. I want to be healthy, but I want to achieve it correctly.
Today I enjoyed half a cantalope with a glass of organic apple juice for breakfast, grapefruit an hour later, and just finished a handful of dehydrated mango. Now that's one thing I was wondering about - dehydrated food is not whole and natural - but shouldn't it be acceptable as a snack, just not a source of nutrition? Hopefully I'll read that part soon :)
So much to learn, so much to think about, and so much yummy food . . .

Friends are Surprisingly Wonderful
I forgot how nice it could be to have friends. People for dinner, laughs, entertainment, shooting the shit, etc.
Dinner was mango/avocado salsa (eaten as a salad), leafy green salad with crunchy sprouts, sashimi tuna and seaweed. Plus plenty of white wine. Mmmm.
Guinness is feeling better and S.O. is happier. Too bad money makes the world go round and smiles turn into frowns.

Brekky
In blender:
1/2 fresh mango
fresh pineapple (probably less than 1/4 of one)
coconut milk (poured for a few seconds)
After smooth, add 2 ice cubes and 1 frozen banana. Blend until mouth waters.
Oh my goodness. Even though it is rainy and dismal outside, today is starting off tropically delicious.
Guinness has been drooling a lot and got some major runs, so he's going to the vet when the open today. Dad is grouchy, but dogs do dumb things and have to go to the vet, it's normal. Last year Cory got a stick wedged across the roof of her mouth while I was out of town, nobody did anything about it for days and when I got home her gums were all rotten. Vet asap. That was an expensive stick.
I hope my surroundings get better today, because mentally and physically I feel great. I don't want to be affected by things I can't control, because I always let that happen.

Corn Chowder
Sorry, no picture. Ate it too fast.
Two ears of raw corn
Blop of olive oil
2/3 cup water
Bit of diced onion
Bit of diced green pepper
Generous pinch of chopped cilantro
Pinch of minced garlic
Sea Salt
Blend everything except one of the ears of corn. Stir in remaining corn, garnish with a bit of diced tomato and fresh cracked black pepper.
YUM. I is a happy girl tonight.

Zebulon
Thought I should post some photos of my uber cool place in Zebulon. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, two sets of stairs, the most badass kitchen, and two horse stalls on the back. Big carport, picnic table, out in the country but two minutes from downtown Zebulon. If it wasn't so far from work, I would be there every night. It's awesome.
Currently eating a honeydew melon with a spoon, mmmmm. About to enjoy a grapefruit, maybe make some raw peanut butter to have with cucumber slices, carrots, celery, etc. This is kinda fun, I feel very good physically and mentally. Just a little tired throughout the day. Just need more sleep I guess.
I think the kitty cat is going to be named Kitty Kat. There are no names that fit her, and that's what I have been calling her anyway.
